Beta terms

Beta terms

The rules for downloading and playing the Kill Orbit beta, in plain language. By downloading or playing the beta you agree to them.

Who makes Kill Orbit

Kill Orbit is made by DataGuys. In these terms “we” means DataGuys, and “you” means anyone who downloads or plays the beta. Questions: [email protected].

The beta licence

The beta is free. We give you a personal, non-commercial licence to download it from killorbit.com, install it on your own PCs and play it. You may not sell it, rent it or charge for access to it, and you may not modify, decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows you to.

Please download it only from killorbit.com, and do not re-host the zip or share it elsewhere. A copy from anywhere else may not be the real build, and it skips the sign-in that gives you an account for your matches.

Kill Orbit, with its code, art, sound and names, belongs to DataGuys or to the people we license them from. Your licence ends when the beta ends, or if you break these terms. The game comes with Microsoft’s Visual C++ runtime and GameInput installers, which have Microsoft’s own licence terms.

It is a beta

  • Expect crashes, bugs and lost progress. If your campaign matters to you, keep a copy of your KillOrbit-Demo\KillOrbit\Saved folder.
  • Servers can restart, go offline or be wiped at any time.
  • Stats, ratings and leaderboards may be reset, for example when the rules change or before the public release.
  • The beta can change, or end, at any time.

The beta is provided as it is, without any warranty. As far as the law allows, DataGuys is not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using it, including lost progress, lost data or problems with your PC. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law gives you and does not let anyone take away.

Fair play

  • No cheats, hacks, bots, modified game files or tools that give you an advantage online.
  • No exploiting bugs. Report them in Telegram instead.
  • No attacks on the servers, on this site or on other players’ accounts, and no attempts to get around sign-in.
  • Treat other players decently. Callsigns that are hateful, harassing or sexual, or that pretend to be someone else, get renamed.

We can remove match results, reset stats, and suspend or ban accounts that break these rules.

Your account

One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself: you are responsible for what is done with your account. Sign-in is handled by Privy, our identity provider. What we store, and how to get a copy of it or have it deleted, is in the privacy notice. To close your account, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with.

$KBUX and money

$KBUX has not launched. Nothing in the beta has any money value: not Credits, stats, ranks or items, and none of it can be sold or exchanged for money. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell anything or financial advice, and we make no statement about any future price or value of $KBUX. More on the $KBUX page.

Content and age

Kill Orbit is a shooter, with violence against creatures and, in online matches, against other players. Online play puts you in matches with other people, whose callsigns and behaviour we do not control.

You must be 13 or older to make an account. In the EEA you must be 16, or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent.

The unsigned build

The beta build is not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen may say it does not recognise the app, and Windows 11 Smart App Control blocks it. The FAQ explains both. Only run a build you downloaded from killorbit.com yourself.

Changes

We will update these terms as the beta changes. When we do, the date at the top moves. If you keep playing after a change, the new terms apply.
